LACROSSE SCHOLARSHIPS

Lacrosse has been a key college sport since the 1870s, and today there are nearly 300 programmes for men and over 350 for women. Students train for up to three hours a day, whilst maintaining a full academic schedule. And academy teams compete in a busy calendar of elite level intercollegiate matches for the National Championship titles in each of the sport’s three divisions

While the number of foreign college lacrosse players remains low, university coaches do recruit worldwide and are always looking for special talents who might develop into great players over in America.

Men's Lacrosse Scholarships

NCAA Division I: College/Universities: 51, 12.6 scholarships for men per team, average roster size: 30

NCAA Division II: Colleges/Universities: 38, 10.8 scholarships for men per team, average roster size: 30

NCAA Division III: Colleges/Universities: 150, they do not award sports scholarships only academic ones, average roster size: 30

NJCAA: Colleges: 27, 20 scholarships for men per team, average roster size: 30

Women's Lacrosse Scholarships

Women’s Lacrosse is a popular sport within the USA and has a significant presence within collegiate sport. There are almost 600 universities with varsity lacrosse teams, giving talented lacrosse players very good scholarship opportunities. Just like it is the case with other traditional college sports, such as American football, basketball, or rowing, college lacrosse goes back many years and started more than 125 years ago.

International college lacrosse recruitment figures remain relatively low, however university coaches do recruit worldwide and are always looking for special talents who might develop into great players whilst at college or university.
